Sleep plays an extremely important role in a human’s physical health. During World War 2, the Jews were often deprived of sleep because of their sleeping conditions. The Jews never got enough sleep, their barracks were crowded and they were not sanitary. First, Elie Wiesel described in the novel night, how at concentration camps they never got enough sleep and many Jews often died. When Elie and his father were being moved to a new concentration camp many people died on the journey. Elie’s father was exhausted and begged for Elie to let him sleep, but Elie pointed to the people on the ground who fell asleep and exclaimed “They’re dead! They will never wake up! Never!
