We all live for sleep, but is not getting enough sleep slowly killing us? Fifty to Seventy million Americans suffer from some type of sleeping disorder. (“Sleep”). Sleep deprivation is common, but who really knows the truth? What is sleep deprivation? Sleep deprivation is the condition that occurs when one does not get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation can lead to many different diseases and even a shortened life. Sleep deprivation can be addressed and fixed by avoiding distractions and things that keep one awake and adapting new habits during the day, but it also affects a persons health physically and mentally through different phases during the night. Realizing and accepting the sleeping problem. While an average of fifty to seventy million Americans suffer from a type of sleeping disorder some people do not mention their sleeping problems to their doctors, and that can cause their life expectancies to lower when its not addresses or helped right away. Throughout the day we all notice the relationships between sleep and our ability to function especially when tired it is harder to function during the day. When one realizes the have a problem they need to seek help. There is a way to fix this sleeping problem but there are right and wrong ways to go about it. This is on of the the wrong ways. Studies have shown that alcohol is used more by people who sleep poorly at night. The reason they drink is the user will think it will help them to fall asleep at night and stay asleep the whole night. First alcohol is used as a sedative to help sleep better and get rid of the side effects of sleep deprivation. Then they realize that it is only a temporary sedative, later in the night the alcohol starts to cause arousals which cause awakenings during the night and then other sleep problems in the long run
