Furthermore, Slavery was a major problem, Americans were exploiting those that were African for cheap labor. Frederick mention that slavery was only making white men become more rich, white men saw them mostly like property. By having several slave states through manifest destiny, this brought consequences, human rights violations. Also, blacks were not able to express themselves, because they were treated awful, they would be punish or sometimes hey would even kill them. From the movie 12 Years of Slavery, I observed how whites would travel to Africa and they would take them from their homes. Even though they were different from social class they had common views. In 1845 James Polk was a president and democrat which was one of the supporters of the Manifest destiny(American Westward Expansion). James Polk main goal was to expand the US to the Pacific, which this help him win for president. On the other hand, Clay was not sure of expanding, but polk was the won that won because of the public vote, and they believed in the manifest destiny.
