Although there were some differences among the area and surface way for slavery, the fundamental idea of slavery was same for all the places. Equiano’s life was account in a different aspect of slavery from others. As I mentioned about all the circumstances in Equiano’s narrative, even there were few nice owners, he was still considered an object to his owners and had no rights as an individual person. Just like the institution of slavery during the eighteenth century, the slaves would be total depend on their owners and people didn’t have an idea of freedom during this period. There were also common features among the slavery in all the places Equiano described. First of them was the idea of work, every slave was belonged to his or her owner and had to make more wages then the cost of him or herself for the owner. Second feature was the idea of ubiquity of slavery. Because slaves were common and sold cheaply on the market, owners were treating slaves as objects rather than human being and ignored their basic rights as the circumstances Equiano saw while working for King and Farmer.
