Essay On Missouri Compromise

A constant struggle for Americans from the time of its founding in 1607 all the way until the late 1800s through the civil war was slavery. Americans were able to find a means of justifying it for quite several hundred years, even though morally it was wrong. As time progresses more people begin to challenge their own thinking to decide whether or not they support it and later deciding that if they disagreed with it, was it enough for them to go and actively fight against bringing it to an end. Americans were divided for small periods over time, but the most major division to occur was the Civil War and it was because it was not just because of states turning against one another, but it was causing families to divide and fight against each other. The ideology that slavery was a necessary business for United States to continue to flourish was the driving factor that influenced the worldview of many Americans during the early to mid 1800’s. In 1820, the Missouri Compromise was implemented as a way of controlling tolerability of slavery geographically. This Compromise, on the surface, did create some progress improvement of slavery, but at no point was slavery reduced. The major reason slavery was allowed to go on for so long was for one reason and one reason alone, society at this time in America was concerned with wealth and the government made excuses that allowed slavery to take place for longer than it should have. There is no denying that a war would have been regardless of whether slavery was brought to an end sooner in history rather than later, but slavery also would have had the ability to have been abolished sooner, giving slaves the freedom to live as regular American citizens in the same way that other men were able
