Slavery has stolen the lives of human beings to serve a wretched institution for centuries. Enslaved Africans endured all sorts of harsh treatment all their lives and desperately hoped to be freed from confinement one day. Selling slaves to other countries was highly profitable for African slave traders and European merchants. However, Africans were taken away from their homeland to become a slave elsewhere. The institution of slavery has been abolished because it was responsible for destroying thousands of African families.
