First and foremost, properly conceived assessment is an essential aspect of education. The educational review process and all associated components should be routinely examined to ensure quality as well as make improvements. Because learning is a very complex endeavor, it is important to create measurement instruments that are sufficiently comprehensive and applicable (Gronlund, 2013).…

I write asking for a second chance! I jumped the gun and took the last quiz, Chapter 13, thinking that they would be similar to the previous ones I took, but unfortunately, I was wrong. For example, Question 4 asks for the two metrics that would be used for the Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD), but the book did not mention RTO and RPO, so I did not have any idea what the correct answer was. (I got that answer wrong.) There were other questions that were not mentioned in the book either.…

Francheska, in the past I did struggle with studying, as I would memorize what was on the study guide. This was a problem as I would study how to solve a question that was worded a certain way and then on the test it was completely different and I would have a hard time solving the question. I find this to be a big problem when studying for a quiz or exam. You want to just memorize everything on the study guide, instead of studying how to apply the concepts. With the exam we just had I used the whole method, without even knowing that was the technique I used.…

Throughout my educational career I have had several great teachers. To choose my best teacher is difficult for me since each teacher was for a different course and they had a unique personality and style of teaching. Overall, I would have to choose Mr. Poska as my best teacher (not necessarily my favorite teacher). I took AP Calculus I & II with him during my junior year of high school, then I took Calculus III with him in my senior fall semester. I also happened to have him as my junior and senior advisor during Connect.…

    Grade 9 Ambiguity

Mr. Flumerfelt, As we earlier discussed, a few other students and I have a few small concerns regarding the final exam for the grade 9 enriched science course. There may have been small issues throughout, but most of our concern lies in one question depicting a schematic diagram of a circuit, along with a few general answers, labelled A, B, C, D, and E, and multiple questions afterwards asking which letter (answer) corresponds the best (refer to the "Thinking" page on the test if possible). We found that some of the questions were to vague to answer with confidence, and some answers were strangely worded, making us less confident giving any answer to any question. The main ambiguity (the one we discussed the most) can be summarized as follows…

Memory is very important in your day to day life. You also use memory when studying of learning about a new topic. By thinking critically about a subject you can greatly increase your memory. In order for things to stick in your memory you have to value or really care about the topic, issue, or object. In “Experience Psychology” the author states “If you think about memory as a physical event in the brain, you can see that memorizing materials is like training your muscles” (King 235).…

Memory is something that we all use in our daily lives. The way it helps us is by giving us the information that we need in which was received and stored in. The way that I can use specific memory to improve my study skills is by planning ahead of time, use known information that is relatable, and organize a concept. And those strategies will help me to improve the way that I encode, store, and retrieve information that I have stored in memory.…
