One of those techniques was to lean my body forward. This allowed me to build up speed. Another tactic was to always look ahead and never allow my eyes to wander off the course. The whole point is to position yourself to that finish line. One more tactic I picked up was to wax my skis. Waxing allows your skis to go faster and maintain better turn handling. The first year I began ski racing, my timing was terrible. Generally, it took me around a minute to finish the hill. Because of this, I would usually rank last on my team. At first, I was usually upset that I could never get a good time but then I remembered if I kept practicing, it would only make me a better skier. So around the second year, my timing a lot better as I would average around 50 seconds which was a huge improvement from last year. Unfortunately though, I still was not able to accomplish a medal rank. So, I kept working on my speed by applying wax and developing better turns around the flags I would ski around.
