Skateparks have serious health benefits because action sports involve lots of exercise. Kids would be encouraged to exercise because skateboarding is a fun and non-competitive activity. Kids would have so much fun at their skatepark that they would come back again and again and get even more exercise. Another piece of evidence from the website “The top 6 benefits of public skateparks” says that, “ Arguably the most important reason for participating in action sports is the fact that it keeps you healthy and physically fit.” This shows that if kids get off the couch and start trying new things it will have some lasting health benefits. It’s important for fitness to be fun so that kids keep coming back for more.
When I surveyed my class about skateparks, 99% of my class said they wanted a skatepark in their community. I also surveyed the teachers, four teachers also said that they wanted a skatepark in the neighborhood and that they think a local skatepark is a good idea.
