The main character of the story, Skalla- Grimr "is delighted greatly in contests of strength and sports…there was a good supply of strong men in the district. But none of them had any strength compared to Skalla-Grimr" (Martin). Skalla- Grimr was a very popular man in his country because of his athletic abilities and Egill writes about how Skalla’s athletic ability allows him to stick an axe in a boy’s skull that was treating him bad.
