Skagit Valley Hospital Job Analysis

Improved Essays
I am writing to you today to show you my interest in going to Skagit Valley Hospital to do a job shadow as a replacement for a day of clinicals. To start, I will be writing about my future goals, my current grade in the Nursing Assistant Certified class (NURS 100), my performance in clinicals, and why I think that I should be chosen.
I have always known that I want to work in the medical field. Now, I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to do in the field but I knew that I was meant to be in it. Over the years I have grown up in a hospital setting. My mom is a Charge Nurse at Island Hospital, so I have always had someone who could show me the glory of being a Nurse. I have the privilege

However, I actually really enjoy it. Going into the first day I was extremely nervous. No matter where you go, you hear horror stories about how horrible nursing homes are. I went into clinicals thinking that I was going to be horrible, and that I was going to witness something horrific. But I didn’t. My first day was easy. The CNA that I was assigned to for the day didn’t have very many patients that required a lot of hands on care. I changed a few bed pans, learned how to chart, and I sat and listened to many of the resident’s life stories. I learned so much that it was hard to wrap my head around the information. That day really helped me understand that all nursing homes are not terrible, and that some actually care about the wellbeing of their residents. The second day of clinicals was even better. Not only did I have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know more residents, I also got to practice my skills on actual residents. I aided residents with getting up and getting dressed, learned how to use the Hoyer lift, sat with a resident and 1-on-1 fed them, and so much more! It is fascinating to see how much a person’s mood can change just by talking to them like they aren’t in need of care. The moment that I left Fidalgo Care Center I just knew that I was meant to be there. I can feel it in my bones that I am supposed to be a part of the Medical Field, and I am so excited to see where my success in this class will take

My day started a bit off, I had an emergency that morning that made me run a bit late for clinical. This made me miss some important information such as, how nurses in NCBH hand over to the next shift, but aside that, I had a wonderful day working with nurse Mrs. Osei. She welcomes me by introducing herself, which I responded likewise. She took me with her to do her morning rounds and administer medication to her assigned patient. After we were done with her morning medication, I went to one of her patient whom I was assign to by Mrs. Natasha to perform mini mental survey and general assessment on the patients.…

Working in the medical field was my dream since I was a little girl. My desire grew when I took anatomy my junior year. My anatomy class educated me on how complex the human body is; from each cell to the organ system, they worked together to form one complex organism. At first, I was contemplating what area of the medical field I wanted to pursue; then, my anatomy class went to an open-heart surgery, where we witnessed a live surgery at Advocate Christ Hospital. This surgery demonstrated the significance of each person in the operating room: from the surgeon to the nurse.…

For my first clinical rotation at Elderwood of Lake Placid for the spring semester, it was a good one. At Elderwood, we started the day at seven am with our morning debridement of where we’d be that day and the patient we would be advocating and aiding for. I had patients DM and PH. For the patient DM, I administered medication and because DM is one of the residents who does not need as much assistance, I spent most of the day getting to know the resident, which was a real treat because you can tell that many of the nurses and cna don’t really have enough time of the day to speak to each resident. I felt that being able to sit and talk to this patient the patient really benefited from the interaction.…

This past winter I trained diligently to become a level-one ski instructor at Bradford Ski Resort. Initially, I did not know what to expect.…

During my time there, nurses often approached me to provide small learning experiences and teach students how to be efficient. When a nurse on the unit asked for help with a bed bath for a patient with whom I was not familiar, I agreed. I wanted to get as much experience as I could. The nurse led me to the patient 's room right away.…
