I mean should I be happy, excited, mad I don’t know how I should feel it something new. A new start and a time to make memories. Time is winding down to the first day of sixth grade. As I start to realize I’m going to middle school and this isn't all just a dream, it’s real life. The day has come where I walk through the doors of my new school, middle school. All I see it commotion, laughter, smiles, loud voices talking about what they have done that summer or how they missed them and was so excited to see them. This personal narrative is going to be about the first day of Middle School and my experiences as a 6th grader. It is going to go after my emotions and other descriptive details of the first day. I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

I’ve been in school for about 11 years, every year is different, but yet the same. Because we are at the same school for years, it’s the same people, same school, and same everyday routine. Some years are better than others, but the overall best year that I’ve experienced is or was, 8th grade. The fun field trips to places, High School acceptance, and it’s the last year of middle school.…

Just as I had finally found a few friends as the year ended at my school, I learned that I would be new once again; my family was moving to a different school district. After a disastrous first year - lonely and disappointing - at my previous school, I was presented with a chance to start again. I was terrified. The task of fitting into yet another new school was impossible, and yet that small voice in the back of my head seemed to think the opposite. Hopes of new friends, new possibilities, new opportunities, were spread, tantalizing, before me.…

As an only child growing up in Clarence, Iowa, I at most times found myself playing alone in my backyard or sitting in front of my television, watching whatever we had on VCR. DVD players had already been out for years at that time, but with my father working as a mechanic in some random guy's garage, we could not afford to buy a DVD player. I had to resort to VHS tapes, but at least my mother would take me to the used game store(which also sold VHS tapes and DVDs)every once in a while. I became addicted to owning VHS tapes, even as a six year old boy and honestly, I still am to this day. My favorites were the movies from Tim Burton and the Disney films were my absolute favorites; I just could not get enough of Toy Story and The Lion King.…

Middle school is an inevitable phase of many of our lives. It is also a very memorable time- for both good and bad reasons. Yet, we all somehow manage to strive through no matter how tough the year gets. For me, at first, none of the typical horrifying middle school stereotypes fit how my sixth grade year was going. I had plenty of friends, understood my classes, and I didn’t appear to be too awkward.…

Fifth grade is a cardinal year; an important milestone in everyone’s life, especially mine. With the first day approaching, and the warm summer of 2009 coming to a close, many of my peers were bursting from the seams with excitement as well as harmless cockiness; we had earned our positions as the top dogs at Pineville Elementary! With my fresh, glossy folders and binders and notebooks, and an outfit I picked out all by myself ready to go, I assured my mom she didn't have to walk me to my class on the first day. Being a fifth grader now, I couldn't have my mom embarrassing me; she did, however, steal a few quick pictures of me walking into the school. As eager as I felt about being an almost-middle-schooler, fifth grade meant something else to me.…

Sixth grade is like the first bite of the cake. You're excited to taste the first bite, but nervous that you might not like the taste of it. Sixth grade taught me many things, but it’s mainly taught me to go for it, to just do it, and don't be shy. That led me to signing up for leadership and eventually standing in front of the whole school dancing and acting. I’ve made some extraordinary and loyal friends that I know I will never forget or lose, and who will always be held close to my…
