It’s good for the both the child and parent to get to know each other because the parent could teach them life lessons among other things. In the article “Six reasons why everyone should hunt” by Keith Wood, it says “There are few better ways to spend quality time with your children than to take them away from the the computer or TV and show them where their food comes from (Wood).” This is good because the bonding time can have a good effect on both the parent and the child. Mirta Ojio’s book Hunting Season, Immigration and Murder in an All-American Town is based on a true story of an immigrant’s murder that turned a small American town on Long Island village of Patchogue into a war zone for immigration rights. In this critical reflection paper, I will discuss and analyze three key issues or themes that were represented in the Hunting Season and elaborate how these concepts connect with those of Governing Immigration through Crime by Dowling and Inda. The first concept is that of the Membership Theory, a theory which “limits individual rights and privileges to the members of a social contract between the government and the people” (Dowling & Inda,2013). The Membership theory often marks out boundaries of who is an accepted member of society and who isn’t, which was demonstrated in Hunting Season when Marcelo Lucero traveled from Ecuador to Long Island.…

“The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell and “Hunters in the Snow” by Tobias Wolff are completely different short stories, but their characters and imagery are very similar. From a cold, winter forest to a humid, sticky forest, the stories’ settings are as polar opposite as possible. These stories may have very different settings, but they have startling comparisons between the protagonists, the antagonists, and the plots. In the story “The Most Dangerous Game,” there are two main characters.…

This is the Achilles heel of public land and an argument that someone always tries to point out. They all say, “There are too many gun hunters on public land spooking all the deer.” In some cases they might be right, but they are wrong in most cases. Most people no matter where they come from agree that night hunting is a big safety problem with bullets flying around and not being able to see what’s beyond what you are shooting at, but it’s also about the animals and giving them a fair chance. People who are hunting are also getting a thrill out of it and it takes that thrill away if the animal doesn’t have much of a chance. In 1998 when they decided ban night hunting the province had lots of conversations with the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations and Métis Nation-Saskatchewan. They decided to ban any unsafe night hunting in the province but still respecting all the treaty and Aboriginal rights.…

The Adrenaline that a hunter feels being in the top of a tree stand waiting for the perfect deer to hunt is absolutely incredible, however hunters are not always lucky enough to find their prey. My dad and I began going around the ranch a day before we went hunting, we looked around to see where the biggest deer’s were located. We tested and align the rifles, to leave everything prepared to go hunting the following day at dawn. We were very positive that we were going to be lucky enough to hunt a big trophy deer, tough the results we had were never crossed our minds.…

Having lived in North Carolina for all of my life I am no stranger to southern culture. A large part of southern culture is hunting and I have been participating in that popular pastime since I was a little boy. Throughout history and in all different cultures around the globe one of the challenges that a boy must face in order to become a man is going on his first hunt, and making a kill. This shows that he is able to supply and support his family with food if need be. My dad began taking me deer hunting when I was about six or seven; I wasn’t allowed to actually carry a gun yet though.…
