The Tibet Monks performance at the Six O’Clock show was quite interesting and unique for numerous reasons, and I have learned significantly from it. There were a group of ten Monks who explained their history, language, communications, and dance/performances verbally and through body language, which was phenomenal. What really caught my eyes was that they were different from our culture, and it was fascinating to learn and understand other cultures. Overall, I learned many things from this show. As of right now, if I could have any career that I wanted; I would be a radio host, TV show host, or an owner of a store chain. For the TV show, it would most likely be a sport related show such as Sportscenter, Sportsnation, or First Take. I want that to be my career because it’s something that I love to do and something I also have experience doing. I've been a part of The Juice radio show for a little over a year now, I always keep up with sports, regardless if I wanted to go into the sports field or not, and I've known Senator Kevin Matthews for about a year and a half. First and foremost, I've been with The Juice radio show since August 2016, we are mentored by Bobby Eaton Jr.…

In Salem, Virginia football is a way of life. Every Friday night at 7 a clock around eight to nine thousand people pile in to Salem Stadium. Salem prides itself on tradition and doing everything in a formal and old-school way which is why I think Salem is the perfect discourse community. Salem embodies everything a discourse community is and should be. For a city of 26,000 it may sound like a lot of people but it completely feels like a small town because everyone knows everybody.…

Last year when I was in 8th Grade and before I moved to a public school, I had a few Groundhog Days. I was at the private school “Peniel Baptist Academy.” That private school was very sheltered and every time that you did ANYTHING wrong they would punish you severely. The school was a very religious and a “holy” place. We would always have chapel on Wednesdays and if you came not dressed in your “church clothes” they would lecture you about how it is “unGodly” and how you are severely disrespecting him.…

In this essay Emily Nussbaum tries to school us on why everyone should stop hating on the 30 Rock character, Liz Lemon. Nussbaum gives a very general synopsis of some characters and a little bit of the plot to support her story. Unfortunetly, as someone who has never seen the show, that just didn't cut it. Her brief of the shows history was too brief. It was hard to follow along and confusing because she often referenced characters and stories I had never even heard of.…

In the dark night sky these lights are seen from all-around the city. They beam down on the field with the fans, the scouts, and the players. The cool fall night has everyone in a sweatshirt, and wrapped up in a blanket. Players and fans howling out chants, screaming for their team, anything they can do to distract the other team. These are the nights that we remember, those Friday night-lights; I will never take them for granted.…

The second Musician I want to talk about would be Michael Lington during the live Jazz Concert. Michael Lington is the Sax player. He is a Danish- American contemporary Saxophonist , producer, songwriter, recording artist and a purveyor of soul and contemporary Jazz. I personally love the way how the concert went, even though I’m not in the actual performance, but I still felt how excited the audiences was during the concert. Opening night, the dancers that performed in the University Dance Theatre production, had talent, agility, and graceful movements. The concert had a variety of dance genres, visual appeal, and emotions that each piece and the show overall represented. Humor, drama, and serenity were not emotions I thought I would receive while watching these dances. One thing I did not realize would make many of the pieces was how crucial and reliant lighting and graphics were necessary to make the piece more visually interesting. However, I was excepting similar dances and movements; even if, some pieces had comparable choreography and emotional appeal the diversity stood out.…

The performance meant a lot to me because it gave me a whole new perspective in the importance of dancing. The dance represented a familiar scenario which I recognized in professional theaters. This was worth my money and time because I was amused and thrilled with new content. The theme of the dance was easy to recognize because of the performers body language and visual appearance. It basically let me know whether it was dark or happy themed.…
