Based on the two videos, “Six Keys to Positive Change” by Roseabeth Moss Kanter and “I Hear Voices” by Dr. Doug there are many things that can be taken away from each that teach leadership. Both videos also had their similarities and differences that make each video unique and able to affect learning relative to leadership. In Kanter’s Ted Talk video show touched on many leadership goals and keys to success. Her major keys were show up, speak up, look up, team up, never give up, and lift others up. All of these keys make great sense in successfulness of being a leader. Some major takeaways that I took away from the video were her keenness on show up, never give up, and lift others up. Things that before this video I had never really thought of when it comes to making a great leader. When she explains her stance on show up she talks about how if you don’t show up nothing really happens. Taking the time to show up for what you want to be a part of is extremely important when being a leader. If you aren’t there, how can you solve the problem or be a part of the change? I think by her saying show up she means putting your all into what you are doing and that you cannot halfheartedly be there. In both videos they really focus on never giving up and lifting others up. In Kanter’s video she discusses how these need to be remembered when being a good leader. However when Dr. Doug talks about them he speaks from experience. He talks about how he never gave up in his life to get him where he is today and he thanked everyone who made it happen by lifting them up and praising the parts they played. They both discuss how a leader is becoming the change they want to see in this world which is another important factor in leadership.
