Six Hours Research Paper

Is six hours enough for a workday?

I do not believe six hours is enough for a standard work day. Think about it, most people can not even survive on their hours now. Shortening hours will lead to loss of wages, ineligible for health insurance and maternity leave. We are not one of the 188 states that mandate paid maternity leave. In the end no I do not believe six hours is enough to sustain a middle class living.

The economy is not in the right place right now to be shortening work hours. The working class will be losing those two hours which will be taking about a quarter of their pay. I work about forty hours a week and personally I struggle with paying all my bills, buying food, and getting gas for transportaion. Not to mention

Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn, authors of a non-fiction book , 102 Minutes, explore facts and provide credible sources that give insight on the feelings and thoughts of people who were inside the towers. The 9/11 Report provides a sequential timeline of events that occurred on the day of the attacks. Both the novel and graphic adaption provide brief modes of miscommunication the towers experienced which led to inadequate response to the terrorist attack. Many of the miscommunications could have saved many deaths, such as, the egotism and turf wars between the fireman and the police department. In addition, Dwyer and Flynn provide statements from people that were inside the building.…

With the research I have conducted, I believe that the Texas Roadhouse in College Station should pursue the following recommendations: Option 1: Adopt a biweekly schedule in order for employees to have more notice of when they work Even know it would take more time to make a schedule for two weeks at a time, the schedules would only have to be made twice a month and it would be a great improvement for the entire store. A biweekly schedule would give employees significantly more time to plan their week and plan homework and studying around their work schedules. This not only benefits the employees but also benefits the employer. Option 2: Continue using a weekly scheduling practice however release the schedule 3 to 4 days in advance Another…

I agree with you, the Fair Labor Standard Act is a very important law that help businesses. If this law was not made than many people would be working long hours and work for low pay because there is no minimum wage set up. For instance, like you said the citizens in Korea working 12 hour shifts in a day seems very unethical and unfair, but they have no law that prevents this situation from occurring. On the other hand, this law can be harmful to businesses because as the years by, new products prices go up and this would cause a raise in minimum wages. This would lead to decrease of revenue on sales for businesses, which would also cause many people to loose there…
