My essay response: The article states that daywork week conversion offers more benefits to business and employees and provides three reasons of support. However, professor belive that it is true but someting not enough to make any dramatic change and refute each of the others reasons. Six hour days in the workforce. I strongly agree that six hour days should become standard in the United States,I believe its healthier and extremely productive to the work industry. I believe a human being who is well rested and does not have to work long 8 hour shifts would accomplish more with their job duties than someone who already has a mind set that they are going to be working 8 hour days. The article indicated that most people can only focus on a task for 90-120 minutes at time.…

The world we lives in views money as either a treasure or just something to blow their nose in. It all just depends on the person. I used to think that money was just a way for people to get what they want. However, after reading the article “The Gospel of Consumption And the better future we left behind” By Jeffery Kaplan, I think that money can be more than just giving and receiving. One point made in the article is that the Kellogg cereal company cut work hours from eight hours to six hours in 1930.…

On ACAS website (http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1373) several information can be found on The Working Time Regulations that cover the employees’ rights on holidays, rest periods, working hours and night work. In regards to holidays, all workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks or 28 days of paid statutory leave or annual leave. The annual leave may include bank holidays if the employer decides to class them as holidays, and these are paid as well. As for working hours, there is a limit of 48 hours/week that a worker can work, unless they decide to “opt-out”, in writing, and therefore chose to work longer. Considering rest periods, workers are entitled to 11 consecutive hours of rest within any 24-hour period, and a short break after…

Since the main reason people are quitting from MedEX is related to transportation, there are several options that Harry Davis should take into consideration in order to avoid turnovers, for example, provide transportation to employees so they do not have to pay for parking, offer a 4 days and 10 hours shift, or 3 days and 12 hours shift, and last but not least, telecommuting. Transportation could play a significant role in this regards because employees have expressed their frustration about paying a high cost for parking in downtown. When employees notice that employers care about their needs and provide them with solutions, they tend to respond in a reciprocal manner by being more productive, their performance improves and they become more loyal to the organization because they feel that the company cares about them (Martocchio, 2013). Some businesses like Wal-Mart Distribution Center offers 4 days and 10 hours shift where employees work from Monday through Thursday having…

Target has rules and regulations in place to protect employees that work in these factories.…
