"the biggest mark against reducing the hours in a workday is that asking employees to work an eight-hour day is fair." As stated in Six-Hour Days Will Never Work. I could not agree more with them. There are several factors that I believe factor into six hour days being unfit. The loss of two hours pay per shift for a employee, companys having to hire more employees, and it could effect the overall health of the employee themselves.

Every family or person has a budget that they following every month to ensure that they will have enough money to pay for food, housing, car payments, medical bills, childcare, other expenses and maybe even manage to save a little. The loss of two hours per shift per day could really offset the current budget that the family or person has set. If the current employee is working eight hours a day 5 days a week they are working 40 hours per week. If the same employee works six hours a day 5 days a week they are only working 30 hours per week. As stated in Six-Hour Days Will Never Work

The less time you spend at work could mean you spend more time sitting around, engaging in risky behavior, or eating. Remember those 10 hours that the employee would be missing out on every single week? Those hours are now filled with couch sitting, drinking alcohol, and eating junk food. Now without being at work moving around that person has put on a few pounds is having to go to the doctor more often. "Although productivity increased with six-hour days, so did sickness." Stated in Six-Hour Days Will Never Work. It could give time for the employee to take a new hobby and get hurt to where they can't work for six to eight weeks and miss out not only on the $100 dollars a week but also their paycheck. Also with the company spending more money on hiring and training more people, they did away with the bonus program so you don't have your bonus check savings to fall back
