Six Deaths In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Six deaths in the well known play of Romeo and Juliet. The characters: Tybalt, Mercutio, Lady Montague, Paris, and Romeo and Juliet. This story of forbidden love did not end well for these six characters. The total of six deaths in Romeo and Juliet were all for many different reasons, but all of these deaths can be blamed on one person. That person being Romeo. Romeo fell deep in love with his family’s mortal enemy’s daughter. Instead of getting over it or even trying to get over Juliet, he made some bad decisions. One reason why Romeo is to blame, is because of his horrible decision making and lack of thinking things through. In Act two, scene 2, Romeo and Juliet have their balcony scene right after they meet for the first time. In this scene, Romeo and Juliet, after only knowing each other for a couple hours, decide that they are in love and should get married despite their parent’s rivalry. This may not be something he could’ve controlled but it was a large reason for many of the deaths. The main one being, Juliet. They fell in love and got married, when he was banished she was devastated. This led to her refusal of marrying Paris and her faking her death. In Act one, scene two, Romeo and his friends decides to go to the Capulet party even though they are Montagues. This was the beginning of the end, if Romeo hadn’t decided to crash this party he knew he should not have attended, none of this would have happened, it connects everything together with the bad decision making and even though he knew he had a bad feeling about the night. He went anyway. Back to the fight that ended with Mercutio’s death, he stated “A plague o' both your houses!” (3.1).
