In just 9 months a single cell, no bigger than a speck, of dust transforms into the most sophisticated organism on the plane, a human fetus. It all begins with the moment of fertilization, but days after it can take the most unexpected turn. Any tiny change or mutation in a gene can cause genetic disorders once you are born. It’s possible to inherit a gene mutation from one or both parents or, a condition caused by a DNA abnormality. There are so many rare conditions that are still being discovered today. Situs inversus is a condition where the arrangement of the internal organs is a mirror image of normal anatomy. It can happen alone, causing no abnormalities or conditions, or it can be a syndrome. Congenital heart defects happen to 5-10% of the people with this syndrome. Many people with isolated situs inversus have no associated health issues. When situs inversus occurs in association with other condition such as Kartagener syndrome or primary ciliary dyskinesia, signs and symptoms relating to these conditions will be present. …show more content…
In some cases, this extra finger or toe is smaller or abnormally developed than the other ones but in some cases it can look normal. This genetic error occurs while the baby is still in the womb, and the hand initially forms in the shape of a paddle, but during the sixth or even the seventh week it splits into separate fingers. It will happens if there is an irregularity in this process. An extra finger will form when a single finger splits in two. The majority of occurrences of this genetic disorder is sporadic which means that the condition occurs without apparent cause. Although some may be due to genetic defects or a hereditary syndrome.
