Advantages And Disadvantages Of Strong Leadership

Not every situation demands strong leadership

The official dictionary definition of leadership states that leadership is:
“the action of leading a group of people or an organization, or the ability to do this.”
There are situations, where strong leadership may harm the relationship between persons, between followers and the leader. Situations occur in different conditions and cannot have certain rules to follow, because of different psychology of each person, however there are theories that may introduce some types of situations and behaviours and deduct whether every situation demands strong leadership or not.

This type encourages followers to grow to be the leader. This leadership does not include any control over others in an organisation, but only defines the purpose and goals or an organisation and helps everyone in the organisation. This leadership is basically a formality, where the leader focuses more on the fact that the work is done, without giving the specific work or tasks to followers.
Stewardship, in comparison to participative management, may even more negatively be effected by strong leadership in a stewardship environment, however there could be also advantages of changing the environment by adding and empowering the leader more. A stronger leadership in such environment at least in some situations, where each follower make their own decision that might have not enough job maturity and could drag the organisations development down, might benefit the organisation.
Servant Leadership
Servant leadership is an even lighter leadership, where the leader is acting as a servant to his followers. Servant leaders place followers’ interest above their own leaders interest. The leader is playing role of a helper in order to achieve organisational goals

People that are not confident enough or are not ready to be leaders themselves and make decisions that could influence organizational development, also tend to appreciate strong leadership and are have willing to be controlled, guided and be taught. In such environment, where strong leadership is required, the lack of strong leadership would lead to fails in business strategy, its benefits and business
