The situational irony from Ransom of Red chief is when the criminals ask for 1500 dollars for Mr.Dorset to get his son back but instead end up giving Mr.Dorset 250 dollars to take him back. The evidence from the story is “Right at that moment, I should have been talking the Fiffteen hundred dollars from the box under the tree. Instead, Bill was counting out two hundred and Fiffty dollars into Dorset’s hand. ”The situational irony from Home alone is when Kevin does not want to go on vacation with his family but we think he would want to go, I found this in the movie. “The Open Boat” by Stephen Crane and “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” by Flannery O'Connor both embody situational irony. When reading The Open Boat and A Good Man Is Hard to Find, excitement level is enhanced through the author’s use of situational irony defying what the reader expects and what the author actually reveals in the final moment. Both O'Connor and Crane develop their stories as if they were a roller coaster ride but, with a twist at the end. It surprises me that ordinary and average people are willing to trade in the stillness of the ground for a chance to be tossed around in the until they often loose conciseness. The force of twisting tracks, loops and turns send chills through the rider’s body.…

Henry utilizes is the irony portrayed in his short story, which considerably contributes to the plot of the story. Instead of being afraid of the kidnappers, the boy "seemed to be having the time of his life," talking incessantly during the evening by the campfire as the two men tried to enjoy their meals (O. Henry 2). When Sam asks the boy if he would like to go home, Johnny surprisingly replies that he has no fun at home and wants to stay “camping,” which is very ironic since the boy is enjoying being kidnapped. The main objective of the two naive kidnappers’ scheme was to merely kidnap the young boy and receive ransom from the boy’s opulent father. However, O. Henry uses situational irony to make the reader’s intended prediction of the plot turn out the complete opposite.…
