Sitting Bull: A Hero

Sitting Bull was born sometime in 1831 in South Dakota and no one knows his birthday. When Sitting Bull was young, he looked up to his father and tried to to follow his footsteps but he lacked in his skills and was called slow. However, as Sitting Bull got older he got smarter and more capable. Sitting Bull is an important historical figure because he was a hero, he defended his land and he honoured his culture.
Sitting Bull was a hero to his people. Sitting Bull was 14 when he first went to battle against a rival clan. After the battle, he was rewarded for his bravery. Later on in 1865, Sitting Bull led an attack on the newly built Fort Rice(North Dakota). Afters Sitting Bull’s victory, his skills as a warrior and the respect from his people,

When Sitting Bull’s people found gold on his land, the government found out and they wanted to start mining. When the government. When the government asked Sitting Bull to start mining on his land but Sitting Bull told them no and to get off his land. The government started a battle because they really wanted that gold. During the battle, a lot of government’s team died. When Sitting Bull’s team won the government was so mad they were coming back for round two but Sitting Bull led his people up to Canada to be safe for four years. Sitting Bull tried defending his land over gold. In Sitting Bull’s Final years he honoured his people’s way of life. Sitting Bull lived in a cabin not far from where he was born. Bull lived life peacefully after he returned from Canada. Sitting Bull rejected christianity and continued his people’s way of life. A Ghost Dance was hosted in 1889 to restore Native American way of life and Sitting Bull joined it. In 1890, when the authorities found out on Sitting Bull’s powerful movement, they got the lakota police to go an arrest Sitting Bull but a gunfight broke out.
