Sit-Up Test

Improved Essays
Out of all the tests, I believe that I did very well on the sit and reach test. Before I started, I took a deep breath and released as soon as I got to my upright position. This helped me reach a higher score because I had a calm and steady start. To obtain an even better score, I can stretch my arms and legs before taking the test. On the bench step test, I could improve by keeping a steady pace with the beat. I think I was stepping too fast, which caused an increase of pulse. For the half sit-up test, I think I can increase my score a lot by hydrating before I take the test. Also, my breathing wasn’t constant, which slowed me down. At some points, I would not breathe and that made it harder for me to complete the test without getting tired.

As a small group of the class, we were put together to test one person's heart rate, temperate and breathing rate of the group. By this the subject (person doing the test and being monitored on) would be doing the harvard step test. The harvard step test was simple and effective to do to find out the heart rate, breathing rate and body temperature. In the small groups, we decided to do the experiment on stairs so the subject would simply step up one step and then step down again, and they would repeatively do this for 5 minutes, rest for 5 and then do it again another 2 times.…

“Though the Look article stated that ‘no exclusive data’ existed on how women compared to men in facing the physical and psychological stresses of spaceflight, Skelton’s tests are strikingly absent from the story. Rather, Skelton was depicted listening to and receiving guidance from the astronauts. She was photographed in men’s pajamas, her hands, playfully thrust into pockets on either side… Technicians at Brooks Air Force Base had handed Skelton the pajamas when they confessed that they did not stock suitable clothing for women who might under testing…While Skelton’s abilities did not appear to have been overtly questioned by the astronauts themselves or any of the space officials she encountered, it was clear that her experience was nothing more than a staged publicity stunt.” (57).…

Psychology so far hasn’t been too bad so far during the semester. I thought at the beginning this class would most likely have been by far one of the most challenging classes I have taken coming from have taken only some AP courses and Honors classes during high school. Currently I am sitting at an 93.1% (270/290 points) in the class, which isn’t what I want to be at which is at least a 95%, but I can build on that and improve my scores throughout the semester. Coming into the class, I looked at the point breakdown from the syllabus and calculated mentally what I would need to get in each category to maintain an A, but also have an A by when the final comes so I wouldn’t have to take the final exam. Ultimately that is my goal for this course,…
