Sirken Robinson's Reflection About Creativity And Education

Improved Essays
My opinion of the video about Sirken Robinson, and his discussion about creativity and education was very relatable to me. I enjoyed the video, and I had thought it was quite inspiring to me. The most thing that was relatable to me was when Robinson was talking about the little girl was that was told she had, had a learning disorder because she was fidgeting and was not able to concentrate or being able to stay still, which was called “ADHD,” but in that case was not known in the 1930’s. The reason it was relatable to me is because when I was younger, all I did was move. I loved dancing. The way I was able to groove with the beat and the rhythm, just made things a lot more easier. I was not able to stay still sitting in a chair, when music …show more content…
The reason to that is because while being children, they do not know what is wrong or right, so they take a chance because they do not know. In that case, it brings out their creativity. For children not knowing the things that are wrong, they will have go at every chance they have, and their creativity comes out along with that because they are not prepared in anyway which brings out their creativity in them.. As growing older into adult, some have lost the capacity into their creativity because they are frightened that they are wrong about a certain thing. From being wrong from adulthood, being wrong can be a mistake we dislike, which causes us to lose the creativity we have, and not think about being creative. I agree on Skirken’s statement to where he had said “ all kids are born as artists.” I agree on that statement because all kids are artist, and as they grow older and older, they lose their creativity as artist to help them along they way because we are mainly teaching children to learn with their brain, and also not with their body. I trust that having creativity as you grow older, builds their creativity and their confidence in where to feel free and open to learn in their own style of the way of their creativity on being …show more content…
As I had mention, children are growing into adults and are now mainly using their upper body and mainly one side of their brain instead of their whole body. I do agree on that statement because as we all tend to grow older and having education being taught to us, we tend to lose out lower parts of our body in being creative and just mainly using our side of the brain to calibrate all the information we get from learning on a topic whether it being math, or english, history, and etc. I presume that we tend to forget about our creativity when it comes to learning in a certain way because we are so use to learning one way in all the same way. For example, learning the same way as everyone else, but not being able to focused about what you are learning rather than using your whole body to help focus on what you want to learn and how you learn in different ways. There are lots of people who are highly talented and creative that do not belive that have the passion of being talented and creative because of the way of how education was. For instance, a young gentlemen who want a career in music would not lean towards music he would feel as if he was not talented enough and did not have the creativity to become a musician because of how the diversity of education was back in the 1900’s. I believe that those people who are intensively creative and talented loose

In James Loewen’s excerpt “The Land of Opportunity “the author discusses middle-class students not knowing anything about how class structure works or how it is changed over time (Loewen 201). In “Do Schools Kill Creativity,” Sir Kenneth Robinson discusses how we are all born with natural capacities for creativity and the systems of mass education tend to suppress them (). That the present education system we now implement is not the failsafe system we think it is. Both narratives tried to explain the failings of the education system, by not going in depth on any given subject, and showing America in the best light. Both Loewen and Robinson decry the broad view of American’s education system failing students that are being taught today.…

Most children don’t really have the attitude that Svitak suggests they have in the video. Teens and children don’t want to learn and aren’t eager to. They are more into their devices. Such as, Santa Clause, as a kid you loved Santa and believed with all your heart until you were told or found out otherwise. This illustrates that we have not experienced life first hand. Schools and classrooms are taking away the ability of students to think the way they want. This weakens the creativity among students and peers; soon the whole class or school will have the same thoughts. As adults were raised, they probably encountered the same things many people see today. Their creativity was not accepted and they began to slowly lose it. Parents and teachers do not see a problem with this today because that is how they were raised; they have had an abstinence of creativity for a while and do not see a problem with students losing theirs as long as they seem to appear successful.…

Mournfully, when people hear the word “creativity” they are use to think that creativity is related to art, paintings, or music but it is not, creativity is everywhere. In my opinion creativity depends on how many imagination an individual can have, because when we use our imagination we can think about the craziest ideas, and in most of the cases these crazy ideas are the ones that make a difference in the world. “Creativity is the key to success in the future, and primary education is where teachers can bring creativity in children at that level. “Creativity is the key to success in the future, and primary education is where teacher can bring creativity in childrens at…

Even within Math and Science, creativity is required in order to grow and move forward. New ideas have to be created for the world to evolve, but with the stifling of creativity, and the creation of a school system where making mistakes can cost students grades, college admissions, and ultimately their future, putting new ideas out into the open can be intimidating. This renders the education system counterproductive and creates leaders and innovators who succeed despite the structure of their education system instead of because of it. Creativity is a defining trait of civilization and should not be…

Integrating more arts into the education system would aid students in feeling more involved in their education, It should be made mandatory that students choose at least two.
