Some essential qualities come from a single gene, whereas others come from gene combinations. Everybody on earth has about 25,000 different genes, and because of this, there are so many outcomes that a person can consist of (What Is a Gene?). That’s what makes us all unique. Sometimes, in people’s genes, there are malfunctions. These malfunctions can cause all sorts of genetic disorders, but no matter how harsh they can make a person look, whether they are deformed or their mentality isn't of ours, they’re still human, just a special kind.
There is a genetic disorder that occurs in the womb, uterus, where the baby’s legs are fused together, causing a mermaid like appearance, also known as Sirenomelia, or Mermaid Syndrome. Many people have misunderstandings and think that this disorder was caused by the mother neglecting her baby, but that is surely not the case.

Unless the newborn has functioning kidneys, it will be hard for surgeons to operate. Without performing a reconstruction surgery the newborn will surely die. Sirenomelia is always considered to be fatal. More than 50% of all affected newborns die before delivery and the rest who survive last for few minutes to two days. Of course there is the option of receiving treatment, but it may not be given f the chances of survival are low. Treatment for Sirenomelia can been given to any newborn that has survived 24 hours after being delivered. If the newborn have kidneys that are functioning well they are recommended for surgical procedures and management
