He declined the offer of evacuating the country until the Loyalists have been brought to safety. Sir Guy Carleton refused to fight the Indians because he was afraid that they’d turn on him. He also administered Quebec Act in 1774 to support the Roman Catholic church and to preserve the French Law. He is also the mastermind behind the defense of Canada and in defeating Montgomery and Arnold’s America forces against Quebec City in 1775-1776. With his great deeds and accomplishments, He was given the title Baron of Dorchester and chosen to be Governor in Chief of BNA. Sir Guy Carleton helped shape Canada in many various ways. Advising the passage of the Quebec Act in 1774 which helped seigniors and the Roman Catholic Church. Sir Guy Carleton’s courage and energy rubbed off on his troops and inspired them which helped drive back the Americans from Quebec City leading to the safety of the country. He also helped relocate the British Loyalists from the 13 Colonies to the Caribbean to Canada, Nova Scotia as a precaution in case the troops come back.
