Takes place at the end of November after the a feast in his honor, Sir Gawain has taken off on his journey to meet with the Green Knight once and for all. Sir Gawain arrives at the castle on Christmas Eve and is greeted . The castle of Lord Bertilak, where Sir Gawain will stay his three days. Lord Bertilak explains to him how he only asks for one thing in return when Sir Gawain receives something of some sort. Sir Gawain is on the last part of his journey and that is to the green chapel, where he will find the Green Knight. Gawain is brave in this part of the poem because as he is approaching the chapel in the distance he hears the sharpening of the blade against the rocks. He did not turn away he did not want to be known as the recreant knight. He is also brave because when the Green Knight goes to strike him the last time he does not flinch or back away. Gawain is brave in the last part of the poem because once the Green Knight strikes him the last time, Sir Gawain immediately took over.
