Sir Arthur Evans Discovery Of The Aegean Civilization

Even though both men, played a huge role in ancient discovery, I believe Sir Arthur Evans discoveries were the most beneficial and helped us learn the most about the Aegean civilization. Through his findings, historians have been able to uncover more about these ancient civilizations.

I choose Sir Arthur Evans for a couple of reasons. First, he discovered the the ancient capital of Knossos by digging up a palace. This finding allowed him to name the civilization Minoan. This was the first lead on the Minoan civilization and gave historians insight on the time period. Upon searching for more, he found Egyptian artifacts which helped establish dates for the Minoan civilization. Along with the palace, the Egyptian artifact's also helped
