Everyone says that “it takes a community to raise a child” and that is very true. When raising a child as a single parent, there is a massive support system that develops in place of the other parent (“Positive and Negative Effects of Single Parenting”). The churches and sports they join is a way to connect with those around them, making connections with people other than family. Community is one positive effect on children of a single parent. Yes, people tend to mature at a younger age when they are raised by a single parent. This could be negative effect, but it can be a positive one.
