Growing up, my family and I had to compromise and make sacrifices due to financial instability. My single mother caring for my brother and I, she worked hard to find a job that would provide enough and be stable. She worked several jobs that the state had given her so we can keep receiving welfare and food stamps. During this time my father didn’t have a stable job either and paid very low increments of child support. Additionally, he wouldn’t give much help financially besides his child support payments. Money would often get tight and I at times worked jobs to help pay for my financial necessities of school involvement and clothing.
