Singer's Argument Against Abortion

Superior Essays
Singer doesn’t believe in absolute, unconditional true moral rules. He strongly rejects a morality based on absolute rules because he believes moral goal is more important than a moral rule. He thinks actions are adjustable according to the situation and in the end depends on what action is providing the most good. For example, Nazi Germany came to your door searching for Jew family. So you can lie to them to save innocent life. Though your action is based on lie but more important you have protected life so goal matters.
Kant believes in absolute, unconditional true moral rules. Kant thinks certain things are absolute right or wrong regardless of the consequences because he support such actions are morally right that could be accepted universally. So, he

Singer believes that if the birth is the dividing line then the fetus is not a human being until the birth. In this case he said it is acceptable to have abortion because the infant is not fully developed by that time.
Yes I do think it’s a really good argument against the conservative abortion, because I do think that fetus is actually a human being and we have no right, and we shouldn’t have any right to kill an innocent human being.
No I don’t think that singer response is a good response at all. Because I don’t think he shouldn’t be saying that fetus is not actually a human being. To me fetus is a human being because it’s living inside the mother, and mother is an actual human being. Inside the mother when the egg start developing, at a certain stage the human fetus will start looking like a tadpole. It’ll have noticeable eyes, and the limbs will start developing more. Now this is a clearly living thing, and we cannot deny this at any circumstances. I believe abortion is very very wrong, and nobody should be doing this at all. Nobody should have any right to kill an innocent human being this

Last Sunday, my priest rambled about the ongoing election and who we should vote for as devout Catholics. He discreetly told us when he stated, “I voted for the candidate that does not support abortion. I voted for the candidate that sought to keep the Church’s ideals. When you vote, please remember the Church’s standards.” Essentially, my priest told all the attendants to vote for Trump because his presidency will prevent the practice of terminating unborn babies.…

Warren’s article “Abortion Is Morally Permissible” discusses if a fetus deserves to have a right to live. She begins her argument with describing why fetuses do not deserve rights because they do not have any traits of personhood. She then points out that even throughout the entire pregnancy a fetus does not deserve rights, she ends her argument by stating that even though a fetus has the potential to become a person it should not have as much rights as a pregnant women who is already a person. Warren’s argument is thought out and has very little mistakes, but the few mistakes that are there can be pulled apart and can be used to destroy her argument. In the article “Abortion Is Morally Permissible” Warren argues that a women should be allowed…

Abortion is the planned termination of a human pregnancy. Several philosophers and activists have argued over if it is permissible. The author of A Defense of Abortion, Judith Jarvis Thomson, is correct about her argument that abortion is permissible even if the fetus is a person. This is because a woman’s right to bodily autonomy, which, combined with the woman’s own right to life, takes precedent over a fetus’s right to life. Even if people claim that she gave the fetus permission to be there, she should not be forced into going against her right to bodily autonomy.…

Defunding Planned Parenthood could result in way more unplanned pregnancies and even more abortions. Many would be willing to say that the previous statement is wrong, but yet they are unable to name another facility willing to help women of all ages with little to no money. Yes, most clinics in America offer the same things that Planned Parenthood offers but, at a cost. Most clinics require some form of insurance and copay, that is where Planned Parenthood comes into play. Planned Parenthood offers all forms of contraception, STD testing, Cancer screenings, Pregnancy tests, and of course the sore subject of abortion is offered there.…

Living in a world filled with people of different cultures, religions, and personalities, it is impossible to think that with every situation that presents itself in American that mutual agreement upon it will be made. In the news, we constantly hear debates about gay-marriage, police brutality, racism, and many other incidents in America that bring out the inner activists of our people. Most debates over these controversies are no surprise to the public because they have been going on for years. One in particular is the debate about abortions. Since 1973, the world has been divided into two distinct groups of “Pro-life” and “Pro-choice” due to the landmark case of Roe v. Wade.…

Planned Parenthood Should be Federally Funded There are many people who believe abortion is acceptable and that it is a womans right to an abortion. Additionally, many people think that the government should not have a say in whether a woman can receive an abortion or not. A woman’s body should be the responsiblity of that woman, not the government. If that woman makes a mistake, they have Planned Parenhood to look to.…

Basically, Singer’ moral code is one that is based on old customs that are no longer applicable to today’s society. It is also very impractical since not a lot a people are willing to help. You cannot expect humans to act as angels all the time. We are not objective or rational when it comes down to making decisions that affect others. We always do things that benefit us and not…

Abortion is one of the most controversial and heated issues in the United States today. There are two different views on this controversy. There are those who are pro-choice, whom believe that woman have the right to choose to have an abortion or not. Then, there are those who are pro-life, whom believe that a fetus should have right to life. Marry Warren, the author of “Abortion is Morally Permissible”, falls under the category of being pro-choice.…

In Patrick Lee’s and Robert P. George’s, On The Wrong of Abortion, it is argued that abortions are objectively immoral. To support this conclusion, Lee and George state that, the fetus is a complete person in an immature phase of development, that the fetus has the potential to develop into a “person” and that abortions are intentional killings. Pro-Choice defenders argue that a human fetus is not a human being because it cannot live on its own, that they are not ‘people’, and that the mother has the executive decision of not wanting the child in her uterus. According to Patrick Lee in another one of his works, The Pro-Life Argument from Substantial Identity: A Defence. Bioethics , He claims that “What makes it wrong to kill you or me now would…

“If we accept the fetus as a person, it would imply that the fetus has the same rights that belong to a person, including the right of living” (Kadayifçi et al, 64). This proves that when morality is included into the topic of pro-life and pro-choice, pro-choice may not seem as ethically accurate. “If the fetus is a person and has the right to live, it is wrong to end the life of an innocent person, and no one would question the innocence of the fetus” (Kadayifçi et al, 64). Therefore, if people could see the fetus as just another person, they may be more prone to consider abortion as a bad…

There has been a long existing debate of “Pro-Life” versus “Pro-Choice” about whether or not women should be able to abort a child. Many people being Pro-Choice will use the argument that the fetus isn 't a living person, and rather that it is the woman’s body; therefore the woman’s choice. There are other options women have such as adoption: waiting until the baby is born and providing the child a well-suited family to properly care for them. I believe any way you can avoid aborting a child is better than abortion because you give the child a chance for life. An unborn child in the womb contains all of the characteristics for it to be considered living, proving abortion is morally and scientifically wrong.…

I will defend my argument by explaining how a fetus is a human being and that abortion deprives the fetus from having its meaningful future. Lastly, I will respond to the objections of a fetus not being a human being, speciesism, and specific cases of genetic defects in a fetus. The first and main thing I must address is the phrase “human being.” We can all agree, that a fetus is a human being in the biological sense.…

Although many believe that just because the fetus is not fully developed it won’t feel pain, it has been proven that, “At 20 weeks the fetal brain has the full complements of brain cells and surgeons entering a womb have seen the fetus flinch, jerk, and recoil” proving that unborn babies can feel pain (“Unborn Babies”). According to Simon, every fetus produced by human parents is considered a human being and a part of the human species. Therefore, if a fetus is considered a part of the human species, it must be given the right to live just like how post-born humans are given the right to live. Moreover, he explains how abortion should be illegal due to the fact that, since every fetus is a part of the human species, getting an abortion will be similar to committing a murder…

Thus, abortion should not even be legal. Under the basic rights of personhood a person has the right of security, meaning they have the right not to be abused, injured, or killed. Commonly, the practice of abortion involves suction aspiration, which the baby mildly drugged, torn to pieces and then lightly suctioned out of the whom. To stop this, the fetal heart bill was put forth to stop the unconstitutional extermination of embryos with a detected heartbeat, but it simply died in congress. As citizens of the United States we need to recognize and inform this unconstitutional practice and put up the laws necessary to make it…
