Sin Vs Religion

It is important that we not only know what sin is, but additionally we need to know what sin is not. Often times we think of temptation as a sin. Powell explains, that sin is not temptation, it is considered a sign of finitude. It is feeling the possibility or desirability to want to indulge in wrongdoing (2008, p. 113). In addition, sin is the turning away from God, and the forfeiting of His protection, and the decision to choose unfaithful vs. faithful, and disobedient vs. obedient (Powell, 2008, p. 113-114). Case (2000, p. 31) explains sin as a, “willful act of disobedience.” John Wesley describes sin as a “voluntary transgression” of a law of God; which reflects unrighteousness (Powell, 2008, p. 116). The very essence of being born into this world, labels us as “sinners”. Human existence is a world of sin. We traded the holy and righteous world that God created, and turned into a world corrupted by sin (Powell, 2008, p. 111).
Wesley expresses that sin is a byproduct of unbelief (Cox, 1957 p. 20). When Adam and Eve sinned against God by partaking in the forbidden fruit, it revealed their belief in Satan trumped their belief in God (Cox, 1957, p. 20). They voluntary transgressed against God’s law, when they consumed

Sin can manifest in multiple ways such as; foolishness, unrighteousness and injustice, misplaced trust, hubris, familiarity, and idolatry (Powell, 2008, p. 114). It is imperative that we have an understanding of sin, in order to recognize that we have fallen victim to it, and to understand that we have the ability to call on our Father to deliver us out of it. God already warned his creation in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Therefore, we must embark on a journey getting to know what kind of sin we are up against, so that we do not continue to

“Sin, Satan and the Snake” One can help when thinking about sin to go back the Genesis account. Genesis 3 takes an enormous and a very important role in the history and the understanding of the intrusion of sin. It lays in sequence the transgression and its consequence, which is constructed in two parts: part one brings to us the transgression, 3:1—7, and part two the chastisement, 3:8—24.7 Nevertheless, the concentration of this exposition will be on part one. Throughout the Scriptures one sees a tentative correlation between passages; some say that Ezek 28:11—19 may have some connection to that of Gen 3.8 One can say that modernist scholars have considered the accounts of the creation and the enticement to be folklore.…

“Christianity doesn't make sense without sin.” says William Kilpatrick in his book Psychological Seduction. Sin is one of the major keys to being a Christian, or in the history of the faith itself. If there was never any sin, then there would not have been any reason for a savior to come and rescue the people of Yahweh. If there was never any sin, would there even be a need for Christianity? Even during the beginning there was sin.…

The Wesley Understand of Human Salvation What is salvation? The salvation which is here spoken of is not what is frequently understood by the word, the going to heaven, eternal happiness. …… It is not a blessing which lies on the other side of death….it is a present thing….[it] might be extended to the entire work of God , from the first dawning of grace in the soul till it is consummated in glory (Maddox 143). In Christianity, a sin is defined as "a transgression of the law of God" (1 John3:4). The concept of sin is as prevalent in today's society as it was when it was first constructed. The "Capital Vices" also known as the "Seven Deadly Sins" are teachings of the Catholic faith. These sins are often seen as the abuse of the most natural desires; and are thought to be "the gateway" to other corruptions, such as murder and adultery. However sin is an ever evolving concept as time passes and actions become normalized, one wonders, what exactly are they, but the real question is how sin affects us today?…
