It could be said that majority of people are in favour of the ban since smokers are not only harming themselves and it might hinder some people to go out as they might be considerably sensitive towards tobacco’s smell and its chemicals. Consequently, people would go to a restaurant or coffee shops with their children without being in a smoke filled room. Furthermore, it is revealed that by the introduction of smoking free public places, the childhood asthma prevalence declined and raised the number of people who decreased their cigarette consumption or gave up smoking (ash, 2015). In addition, the smoke-free legislation led to reduction in emergency admissions to hospital for heart attacks by 2.4% which is equivalent to 1200 people in 12 months after the law legislated (ibid)
Nevertheless, some people argue that this legislation can not be justified as people still smoke in other places apart from public buildings, especially at home which have a significant impact on children’s health (Roxby, 2012). Additionally, some other further legislation could be required, since smoke-free legislation is efficient for only public places and it does not protect vulnerable children and other people considerably (ibid) as there are still 10 million people who are a regular smoker in the UK (Kellner,
