The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a work of fiction which was set in seventeenth century in Boston. The story shows complex topics of the Puritan system in the colonial era and the idea of sin and justice. It is more than just the tale of sins, it is an intense love story between Hester Prynne and Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. The main character of the story, Hester Prynne is punished for her sin of adultery. Throughout the story, the author, Mr. Hawthorne seems to sympathize with Hester since she was forced to marry Roger Chillingworth at a very young age.
