Despite the fact that emotion regulation difficulties are not the main symptoms of schizophrenia, they affect the majority of the patients and are associated with many maladaptive outcomes and high impairment (e.g. absence of romantic partner, lack of personal network and limited social interactions) (APA, 2013). It has been suggested that individuals with schizophrenia show difficulties in applying emotion regulation strategies (Henry et al, 2007; Kimhy et al., 2012). For instance, it has been found that patients with schizophrenia tend to overuse suppression as an emotion regulation (Henry et al, 2007). Similarly, Kimhy et al., (2012) found that patients with schizophrenia used more suppression than reappraisal compared to healthy controls in an Emotion Management Task (EMT).…

We arrived a little late to his game, because we had a test in our Sexual Health class. The team was not doing that well before we got there and they were happy when they saw Jaylan came. TBLT Narrative The CALL tools used on the first day of the TBLT unit are the classroom computer, projector and screen. The map of Italy is shown to the students on the classroom screen so that everybody can direct their attention to the same image. Students will have to get up, move around the classroom, and ask each other questions about the regions on the map in the target language and by using the verb “essere” and the vocabulary about location. The projected map on the screen works better than a printed map in the book because it allows the students to get up and move freely by having a big image in front of them.…

As the class finishes up the prototyping unit, I think about my personal experiences during the planning, prototyping, and creation of my media charging stand. A few changes were made along the way to a successful project, but overall, I am happy with the outcome. I will walk you through my thought process and experiences as I applied my skills (or lack thereof), while we worked in the wood shop. At the beginning of the unit, we were presented with a problem. We had to design a few sketches of a cell phone charging stand that we would eventually bring to life in the wood shop.…

Cardiac catheterization is an invasive On Tuesday, October 4th, I spent the day at The Miriam Hospital cardiac catheterization laboratory. Cardiac catheterization is an invasive diagnostic procedure that uses imaging equipment to identify if a patient has disease of the heart muscles, valves or coronary arteries (Smeltzer, 2011). Upon arriving at 0720 the nurse manager greeted me and the other student, and gave us a quick tour of the control area and examination room. We were informed about the safety precautions used to protect ourselves from imaging equipment and the patient 's from infection and were instructed to wear a lead apron, surgical…

In order to create useable and target group oriented user interfaces, it is of utmost importance to evaluate design decisions. Interactive prototyping tools are a way to evaluate the interaction between different views of a user interface. Such tools are available for all platforms and with different feature sets. In the following, we discuss two of them: Balsamiq Mockups (or Balsamiq for short) and POP. While Balsamiq is available for desktop computers (with a desktop-optimised web version being available), POP is a smartphone-only app.…

Strengthening the student toolbox by Dunlosky describes multiple strategies that students can use to learn certain amounts of information that the students have to know in a class and in turn strategies on how teachers can teach their students. These strategies were as follows for students and teachers being the good; practice testing, disturbed practice, interleaved practice, elaborative interrogation, self-explanation, and the bad; rereading, highlighting, summarization, keyword mnemonic and imagery for text. All of these strategies are and can be used by students and helped or hindered along by their teachers, some more than others. In my high school years I received multiple instructions to not cram study for a test and to space out studying for it in the days leading up to the test.…
