In the article, “It’s A Duel: How Do Violent Video Games Affect Kids?” by Shankar Vedantam, an American Journalist, he clearly states that children who play more simulated violent video games are more prone to not process violence in the real world. For example, Brad Bushman, a social psychologist at The Ohio State University decided to do some experiments. These studies were done to see how college students reacted to violent images and blasting each other with loud noises. Bushman reveals that, “Everybody was more aggressive if they’d played a violent game than if they’d played a nonviolent game, and the more numb they were, the more aggressive they were in terms of blasting their opponent with loud noise through headphones.” I can’t think of any good thing to come of this, I think it’s really awful that the students who played more video games were more keen to be so unlawful to others. From learning about these studies done, I can safely say many misinterpret violent situations. That would make sense though, because when they are playing their video games, they are killing their opponents to win the game or stay alive. But to wrap up my thoughts, I do agree that video games are fun to play, and are a good way to entertain us when we’re bored, but if you don’t stop to take a break from all of the violence then enough is enough. If you’re unable to realize the difference between good and violent actions you make, then you should play less simulated violent video games. Just realize that simulated violent games can and contribute to bad behavior in people, they allow us to think that violence is okay, they take away from productive time, and misinterpretation, if we do not put a stop to the
