Simply Rectangle Image Analysis

Decent Essays
The image I have is two-dimensional. There are Implied lines that seem to form a square, rectangle, and a skinny rectangle from the different color in the background. The image is made up of 4 hues: red, blue, blue-green, and orange. There are three main masses, which are geometric, that take up most of the image. There is a large square, which is blue, and it takes the most space out of the three main masses. The second mass is a smaller blue-green rectangle that is directly below the big blue square. There doesn't seem to be any motion in the image by how it is basic, and flat with no three dimensions. There is intensity with the blue squares and the red background by how it pops out. Also, an example of texture in the piece can be the rough

Stand there, right in front of the painting; what do you see? Look closely, very closely and see the paint on the canvas flow through each brush stroke, see the colors expand and blur, and see how the lights play off the soft, vibrant colors. Watch the swirls expand out into an infinite space in time . The paint flies beyond the canvas and the shadows and reflections blur into one. The pinks, blues, reds, yellows, oranges, purples, and browns blend together to create a symphony of colors.…

This picture is black and white of young boy called Flavio, feeding rice to his younger brother Zacarias. My first impression of Flavio’s archive was that it seemed to be a very sad story. This photo shows the horrors of poverty and Flavio’s strength to survive, and even the courage to accept death without even thinking about himself but of his brothers and sisters. I did some research and found out that Flavio is a 12-year-old boy who has the huge responsibility of being an adult. He is able to accept this responsibility while still remaining vibrant and hopeful even though Flavio is suffering from a physical illness, poverty, overwork and worry.…

It is a photograph, with three-dimensional and naturalistic qualities. It has a narrative and is it asymmetrical. The main feeling I get when I look at this photograph is love. See how loving the couple is standing holding close to each other, enjoying their time together. In addition, a calming feeling is portrayed, they are relaxing, and their positioning of their bodies shows contentment.…

The purpose of my visual representation is to create an accurate representation of the narrator’s culture in a way that would appeal to an audience of future readers. Tim O’Brien, the narrator, belongs to a culture of people who have a deep understanding of war and how its stories should impact others. The narrator’s culture is heavily influenced by the time period that the text is written. Since the stories took place during the Vietnam war, the narrator’s culture and perception of war stories are centered on his experiences in Vietnam. The short story is structured as a personal narrative, because Tim O’Brien narrates a series of vignettes in first person.…

The form of artwork is a photographic silkscreen on vinyl. The size of the work is 112 x 112 inches or (284.48 x 284.48 cm), a perfectly square framed piece. The general composition of the artwork includes a closeup shot of a young woman 's profile (with a very neutral emotion) from the chin up, in front of a plain, bare background. The axis of this piece is vertical, since all lines in the framework go straight up and down. In regards to elements in this artwork, there are several forms.…

Distinctive visual images have the power to influence the understanding of particular worlds through the pathos evoked by the experiences of others. This notion is effectively portrayed through John Misto’s play “The Shoe-Horn Sonata” and Shane Koyczan’s TED Talk, “To This Day… For the Bullied and Beautiful”. The audience is emotionally stimulated by the dehumanising attitude and treatment towards others in their unique worlds, the imbalance of power. However, they also enlighten the power of music as a source of hope and a survival mechanic.…

Called the day America changed forever, the day we officially become a divided nation, the day John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, on that day Lyndon Baines Johnson takes the presidential oath on Air Force One, a moment when our democracy’s creed of peaceful transfer of power took place after tragedy. The iconic image of Johnson with his hand raised as he recited the Presidential oath, his wife on his right side, Mrs. Kennedy, her blood soaked dressed on his left, many behind them, still in shock and disbelief of what has just transpired. The image, iconic in its meaning to often shows the dramatic Shakespearean tragedy known as the Kennedy’s, a family full of power, and prominence but time, and time again tarnished by tragedy. Through simple observation one would look and see the sheer emotion of the moment, Mrs. Kennedy, shell shocked after just witnessing the man she loves being gun down in his prime, Johnson well aware of the situation, knowing he must handle the situation with ease, and delicacy, but understanding the country needs a leader during this time…

In both these responses I have drawn myself—an attempt to replicate Stanley Spencer’s style. Prior to drawing these responses, I had my photo taken. The source of light was shone on the right side of my face, and was limited to imitate the shadows in Spencer’s self-portrait. These responses link to the artist which I am studying as they both feature the use of self-portraiture, something that was typical and common of Stanley Spencer. I aimed to capture the same mysteriousness associated with Spencer’s 1914 self-portrait.…

In these two films, we are presented with velocities. These velocities are causes of tension, frustration, and anxiety. Serene Velocity was filmed in one night in 1970 in a hallway of a building at the University of Binghamton.…

I decided to chose Object 1: Vincent van Gogh, Café Terrace at Night, 1888, oil on canvas, KröllerMuller Museum, Otterlo for my design summary/formal analysis. Two elements utilized in this piece of art are texture and color. Texture is the surface quality of a work (Dewitte, Larmann, Shields 62). Color is the optical effect caused when reflected white light of the spectrum is divided into a separate wavelength (Dewitte, Larmann, Shields 92). Implied Texture is displayed throughout this canvas.…
