Simon Sinek is the author of the inspirational book called “Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action” Sinek makes several comparisons of why one company is more profitable than other companies. He goes into detail of the different ways companies approach society to become a successful business. He believes that there are three reasons a company will become successful through what (the product), how (the process), and why (the purpose). People that only think of selling their product normally do not become successful in life. Sinek thinks people are influenced through the purpose of their product not just the product itself. Sinek came up with an idea called the Golden Circle which consist of layers of why, how, and what. Sinek’s meaning of why is the core beliefs of the business. His meaning of how is the actions taken place to fulfill these core beliefs of the business. His meaning of what is the product/service made to fulfill the core beliefs. I agree with Sinek’s thinking on how starting with a purpose is better than doing something without a purpose. I believe this ties in with today’s United States military because there is always a purpose for the actions they take. A personal example is while at basic camp one of the first things I learned was about the army values of the army.
