The sun above me was blazing like a fiery ball in the sky. I was playing a Vietnamese version of Simon Says on a busy street that ran through my tiny neighborhood. Even though it’s been eight years since that day, I can still hear the sound of people driving their tiny scooters and the running engine that powered a market nearby as there was a power outage that day. “Tom, come inside,” she said in a serious manner, “ I need to talk to you.” I couldn’t really hear her at first due to all the background noises so I yelled back, “Mom, I already finished all my chores and I’m in an middle of the game right now”.
