He can’t even bring himself to leave his flat. Simon played this role brilliantly. His whole physique and the way he oozed of fear, but still able to add humor to the character was well played. Clair de Grunwald, played by Clare Higgins, was Jacks agent. Her character had a smooth finesse and level headed flow to herself. Instantly, you could tell that she doesn’t have many clients, however she knew what she was doing, especially when it came to Jack. At their meetings, she introduced the name of an executive that made Jack go even crazier. The man who evaluated and guided Jack, was Dr. Friedkin, played by Paul Freeman. I am guessing he was his Psychotherapist who, oddly, could connect and conduct his sessions with Jack, through the mind. Paul didn’t really connect with his character, he had to portray a level headed, but a little “off his rocker” type of character, I don’t think he did that well. It is placed in the horror/comedy genre. Trying to grasp the goal of the movie is a little hard. To me, it is a man who can’t embrace the message of his hedgehog book and loses himself in trying to write murder novels. Which leads him to unravel and conquer his fears. Which then leads him to understand the hedgehog and how his feeling relate to his past life, which only then learns to embrace and make a profit off his children’s book.
