Spring Break Reflection

Improved Essays
As I began this assignment, I found it difficult to recognize when I was having negative thoughts. I decided to track my thoughts over the course of spring break. I began recording my thoughts as spring break began at Fort Stewart in Georgia. I tracked my thoughts as the week continued.
As I began to track my thoughts, I did not notice any pattern of when they occurred. However, most of the thoughts I did track occurred when I visited Fort Stewart in Georgia over spring break. I went to post to visit my boyfriend who is stationed there. While there the thoughts: “I am an awful person for thinking this way,” “I do not belong here,” and “This girl must think I am stupid,” all occurred. The main day I was there, I met a wife of one of the men

Right now, the team is preparing for the National Cheerleading Association’s Collegiate Cheerleading Competition that happens in April in Daytona. Currently there are only three weeks till we leave for the competition and the tension is starting to run high. Since we came back from break, I have been struggling to gain the confidence to do two tricks that are in the routine. The first trick is a connected trick called a cartwheel backhandspring. Since I began my cheerleading career I have always struggled with connecting tricks and having two in the routine has really dwindled my confidence. Before break began, I finally accomplished my cartwheel backhandspring. It was an awesome moment however I knew I still had to conquer the toe-touch backhandspring that was coming. “Just because I did this cartwheel backhandspring does not mean I will succeed at my other tricks,” kept running through my mind. I knew I needed to stop this type of thinking as quickly as possible or all of my confidence would be gone. I told myself that I finally conquered a trick that scared me, I know I can find the confidence to achieve this toe-touch backhandspring that was coming. Until I finally conquer the toe-touch backhandspring I continually tell myself that, “I am not good enough for this team.” I beat myself down and feel as though I am failing my teammates and all the hard work they have put into the routine. Reminding myself to think differently is a struggle. I try to think of the accomplishments I have had as a collegiate cheerleader and use those positive experience to remind myself that I am good enough for the

This reflection will be in response to the field experience that was completed on the 12th of November, 2015 by Matthew Daykin. For my High School field experience, I attended Palmetto Ridge High School and observed both Mrs. Zacher’s ninth grade English class and Mrs. Reid’s ninth grade Science and Math classes. Palmetto Ridge High School (A.K.A. “The Ridge”) is a grade 9-12 school located in Naples, Florida. The Ridge has a total of 1,865 students; 46.33% of the students are listed as identifying as White, 7.29% are listed as identifying as Black, 40.8% of the students identify as Hispanic, 1.39% of the students identify as Asian, 2.63% identify as Indian, 1.29% identify as Multi-Racial, while only 0.27% identify as Hawaiian or Pacific Islander (“Palmetto Ridge High (PRH) School”, 2015). I believe my first lesson during this field experience came about a week before I actually completed my field experience at this location.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

“Is there more to it”, you say? Yes there is one last component to a routine you must remember and that is the cheer. Most times, the cheer is in the middle or beginning of the routine. For it you must remember words, motions, stunt counts, and to smile and lead the crowd. Cheerleaders must be able to obtain colossal amounts of information to execute their routine successfully.…

The mental challenge comes into play during a stunt or a routine which requires many movements happening all at the same time. A cheerleader must be alert and prepared at all times so that no one gets hurt. They must believe in themselves and have self confidence to perform at the best of their ability. So strength building whether physically or mentally is a huge part of cheerleading, just as it is any other…

Growing up in our time, in a middle class privileged family and attending a good school makes myself take for granted what some people truly go though. I have always enjoyed my history classes throughout high school because my teachers were so passionate about their subjects. After this course I had acquired a different level of education of American History that I have grown to appreciate. Prior to this class I had not been aware of several events in our history including the project of Freedom Summer which took place in 1964. Throughout the PBS documentary of Freedom Summer I had felt shocked, fortunate, furious and several other feelings.…

After begging the school nurse and my doctor, I was allowed to go a watch, where I became the team’s biggest cheerleader. One moment you're using all strength and muscle of energy you have, and using your body to what you think are making them stronger. On the inside though, you’re only breaking them. “Don't get inside your head, this is easy.” I told myself before I stepped onto the mat. Competitive cheerleading is one of the most active sports and uses every part of your body and strength to flip yourself around, or throw somebody in the air.…

Response Assignment 3 The self and our perception of others are thoughts that are constantly flowing through our minds subconsciously. Prior to reading the readings for the week, I did not realize the impact that our self-perception had on our daily lives and interactions. After recalling some of my instances, I realized that the interpretations that I have regarding my self-worth might not have been the most accurate. In this response, the two examples that I have chosen are events that either directly or indirectly relates to my days in high school.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…
