Simon Birch Eulogy
Hello everyone. Welcome to Simon Birch’s funeral, I’m Joe Wentworth. I was Simon’s best friend, as he was mine as well. Today I will present you a few stories from Simon’s journey, that I had the pleasure of sharing with him. Simon was always very mischievous, and he definitely proved that at the town Christmas pageant. Simon was forced into being baby Jesus, due to he was the only one who could fit in the bassinet. Well, Marjorie was mother Mary, and seeing as Simon was basically in love with her, he was already a nervous wreck. So at the pageant, we were all performing on stage. Simon in his bassinet and Marjorie standing over him, and as the poor kid who was playing the angel was swinging back and forth, Simon just couldn’t

We were sitting eating ice cream outside while we tried to figure out who it could be. Then Mr. Baker came along. Mr. Baker came and talked to us and he said how my mom was a “special lady” so I assumed right then that it had to be Mr. Baker. So with the help of Simon, we stayed after school for swim tryouts so we could sneak into Mr. Bakers office to try to find the baseball that hit my mom. So after tryouts we snuck down the hallway and ran up to Mr. Bakers office. The door was obviously locked, so Simon reached his arm through the mail slot and unlocked the door. And of course he got his arm stuck in the door. So I opened the big cabinet full of Mr. Baker’s sports equipment and as everything tumbles out of the cabinet, I see a baseball. I got so excited, as I was sure it was the one that hit my mother. I reached for the ball and brought it down to me. I turned the baseball over to check if it was the same ball and I grew furious, or as Simon told the police officer after we got caught, I “went psycho.”. So as I discovered that it was not the same ball, and that Mr. Baker was not my dad, I did indeed go psycho. I threw the baseball at the window, and as I watched it shatter I screamed. So as we were sitting with the police officer, that was when we were told we would have to go on the retreat. I tried so hard to get Simon out of trouble, but the officer wouldn’t let him go so he got in just as much trouble as I did. I felt so bad for him, especially because it was all my fault that we got in trouble in the first

Furthermore, Simon is regarded with some suspicion among the group because he often disappears without anyone knowing where he is. He has a secret hiding spot from which he spies on the other boys. Specifically, he watches Jack and the hunters kill and behead a pig. The text states, “All at once they [the hunters] were running away… toward the open beach. Simon stayed where he was, a small brown image, concealed by the leaves,” (137).…

Right Leg Bravery is shown within Simon when he trekked up the mountain by himself, despite the supposed sighting of the beast from the other boys. “Like an old man, through Simon’s “stagger” shown by his “glum determination” (Golding 146). Because “the beast was harmless”, it does not possess any physical threats since it’s a dead body, yet “horrible” in a way that it invoked fear into the group of boys (147). On the other hand, the “usual brightness from [Simon’s] eye” is gone which could represent how the good nature of the boys is being overpowered by their own inner beast (146). Not being wavered by fear, unlike the others, Simon overcomes it; therefore he understood the impact of their fear of the beast on them.…

I think, at the end of all this, I would, like Simon, remain silent. There will never be the right formation of words to explain my justification or my feelings about the choices that Simon or I would have made, but I can start by asking the same morally profound question: what would you have…

According to extensive research done careful historians, the bloodshed was very extensive. “Campbell may be referring to the martyrology of Samuel Clarke, written in 1651. Perhaps this figure of 68 million came from Brownlee or somewhere else, possibly the writings of Llorente or Clarks Martyrology, cited above. Such figures sometimes appear in recent books, such as Wilders, but in general, all the figures about the number killed by the Papacy go back many years and have reputable sources. It is interesting that Campbell implies that the figure of 68 million includes many who were not killed, but just persecuted, while the three earlier references, including Brownlee, state that this number were killed.…

Ezinma’s Eulogy For Okonkwo It’ s a shame that my father went out the way he did, a disgrace even. However we must look past his suicide and towards the true meaning of his life. Okonkwo started with nothing, and became one of the greatest rulers in Umuofia. He was raised by his lazy father, who had received no title in his long lifetime. I remember Okonkwo telling me stories about the people who would laugh at his father and call him a loafer.…

The savagery and uncontrollable fear that they had, ended up making Simon become their scapegoat which proved Simon’s indifference against the boys. With the murder of Simon, his body is left on the beach and later swept out to sea, “The body lifted a fraction of an inch from the sand and a bubble of air escaped from the mouth with a wet plop. Prior to watching Love Simon, I believed the film would be filled with clichés and the story would be boring and repetitive. I could now thank the class for challenging me to watch something I have been putting off for my own reasons. I had some preconceived notions about the fil and they were completely wrong. I my essay prior to viewing the film was riddled with saying the film would be just the same old story line we are so used to seeing over and over again as a constant film watcher. I figured he would struggle with coming out because he wouldn’t be accepted by his friends, classmates or parents.…
