Do you have something you love doing? Is it your strength or your weakness? How would you feel if everyone in the whole world was as good as you at that one thing? Well in the story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. everyone in the book is the same and or equal. The theme that I believe really stands out is, to respect others differences because in life if everyone was the same, life would not be nearly as interesting.Also, we should respect our own differences and we should not be disappointed that we are different in certain ways then everyone else is. Even if you don’t like something about yourself you still have to understand that no one is perfect we all have our flaws. Sometimes we just have to step back and acknowledge what was not to good at or for that matter understand what we don’t like about ourselves. In Harrison in Burgeon could the government be hurting themselves but not taking advantage of their differences? For example on page 1, it explains that “All equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th amendments to the constitution and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General”. This is significant because it shows that the government thinks life would be better off without people's differences. However, the government does not realize that this is causing their society to become not as productive. Some may say, the government obviously knows what they are doing life would be way better if we were all the same! Even though some may think this, the reason we are successful as a nation today is that we as a country are very diverse. So we all see things with different perspectives. Having confidence is like being a ninja you're ready for whatever comes your way. All in all this a one of many relevant points because as we have pride in our differences we will become more successful, but for Harrison and Bergeron we can see that they aren’t changing
