The Similarities Between Voldemort And Hitler

In less than a decade, J.K. Rowling created a fictional world along with a real-life culture orbiting around her work and redefined an entire genre of books. In addition to transforming the names Harry, Hermione, and Ron into household names, she also brought to life one of the twenty-first century 's most iconic and memorable antagonists: Lord Voldemort, or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Striking fear into children 's hearts, he represents the polar opposite to Harry 's goodness. While Harry 's motivations are founded in love and friendships, Voldemort 's are founded in hatred and pure evil. Such reflections are as simplistic and generic as they come, and yet even adults, whose historical and emotional experience are arguably more complex, get …show more content…
One of the most commonly rumored fact about Adolf may be his supposed Jewish ancestry, a rumor that could have originated from a CIA report. The report claims that Hitler came from "illiterate peasant stock derived from a mixture of races. His father was illegitimate...Hitler 's mother was a domestic servant. It is said that his father 's father was a Jew and it is certain that his godfather was a Jew" (Murray). Whether or not this was political propaganda created by the CIA 's Office of Strategic Services, modern science reveals Murray 's claims may hold water. While scientific but inconclusive, modern DNA analysis shows genetic code present in Hitler 's DNA commonly found in Jewish and African populations (Blake). If the research 's claim is true, Hitler would share this brand of self-hatred with Lord Voldemort. As revealed in the Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort’s mother was a pure-blooded witch from an unstable and inbred wizarding family; Tom Riddle, Sr. was a rich Muggle with not a hint of wizarding blood ("The House of Gaunt"). This would have similar implications of racial hypocrisy, just as in Hitler 's …show more content…
The two shared an obsession with blood purity and the supremacy of one, genetic group of individuals despite there being evidence that they were both of “impure descent.” Both employed methods of dehumanization to target their enemies and facilitated their plans of mass genocide. Lastly, both showed traits akin to modern definitions of mental illnesses that give their actions and beliefs scientific contexts. It is unclear if J.K. Rowling wrote Voldemort with intentions to mirror Adolf Hitler. Arguably, it would make sense as a western European to hold issues of anti-Semitism and Nazism closer to her heart, but there have been no such reports or writings done by the author to conclusively confirm these comparisons. Nonetheless, it showcases her groundbreaking ability to allude to adult themes previously believed by mainstream media in such a delicate manner that makes them appropriate for even young children to consume at an early

Megan Cox Gurdon argues that YA fiction are ubiquitously gory and filled with grotesque images that are stomach churning. Her primary tool for her argument is to appeal to the parents, whether their sweet and innocent child should be reading such books. First, the YA genre is extensive. There are books that explore ideas that are clearly stomach churning but there are books that are clearly do not. For example: Harry Potter is considered YA fiction, but when compared to YA fiction such as “Shine” by Lauren Myracle, they are radically different.…

The book quickly became a best-selling phenomenon and so did it’s successors as most young adult readers found themselves hooked and simply couldn’t get enough of Harry Potter. Although the series became highly popular, it also brought wide-spread controversy with some parents and teachers who were under the impression that the book promoted the occult, witchcraft, and evil. This perception led to attempts to ban the book series from many schools and libraries. The previously stated makes no sense because people shouldn't be treated less than for not looking what is, in Hitler's eyes 'perfect'. The New York Times article conveys that race only defines your external features, and only a small portion of your internals. You won't be able to tell the race of a person by looking at an X-Ray. We are all the same on the inside, which is what really matters. What Nazi's that killed over 6 million jews don't understand is that we all are in the same situation in life.…

Two of the greatest men in modern history, Otto von Bismarck and Adolf Hitler were determined to transform Germany into a great power. Despite being Prussian, Bismarck was nonetheless driven to unify Germany due to the fear of liberal ideology in a fragmented Germany. In essence, Bismarck was violent and would not stop at anything until his goals were realized with the eventual formation of a German state. Meanwhile, Adolf Hitler, an Austrian, sought to rid the nation of any race that was not “pure,” creating a utopian society based upon his radical ideology. Like Bismarck, Hitler was close-minded and would always go with his instinct, regardless of what was truly in the best interest of the masses.…

Children 's literature can be said to be concerned with both ideology and power relations. This essay is interested in exploring these issues through a close reading of an extract from J.K Rowling 's Harry Potter and the Philosopher 's Stone (1997). There will be no instances of moments that the will to power will last permanently by itself since it will have to end and restart again from the view of eternal recurrence. The Nazi’s wanted a will to power that would last forever and not ever have to reoccur again and start over. They interpreted Nietzsche as an individual who advocated the will to power, where individuals use their expressive and aggressive will to claim power over others in the state. Hitler was the individual who used his will to claim power and subjugate his authority over the German people and the non-Germans.…
