Both Utopia and Dystopia, are extremities and cannot be fulfilled without a flaw. A short story by Ursula Le Guin- “The ones who walk away from the Omelas “ is applicable to the statement mentioned above. This story leaves open the bitter truth that the happiness of an entire nation is riding solely upon the suffering of a mere child. Such a drastic measure had to be taken to make sure that the life that the Omelas led was perfect and without a fault. Both of the settings and conditions are so different, that it led to people walking away from the Omelas. The fact that Utopia and Dystopia are both extremities, seals the truth that we can never have a completely perfect or completely imperfect world.
Utopia and dystopia are concepts that, no matter how hard one tries to create, No matter how different they may seem, are one in another and do not exist. Their ideals revolve around each other and that is what leads to a world full of happiness and pain; different thoughts, beliefs, mindsets, and perspectives; a perfect world is one that acknowledges that perfection cannot exist, and there is no need for it to.
