The plot in Tom and Huck differs from the plot of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The movie, Tom and Huck, gives less detail of what is happening. Many scenes are changed. However, some details were added to flow the story along and to make the movie more entertaining. The plots of Tom and Huck and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer are similar, but very different at the same time.
In the beginning of Tom and Huck, Tom Sawyer sees Becky Thatcher by the schoolhouse. He finds her enchanting, so he makes a plan to purposely get in trouble so he could sit by her. In both, the now rich criminals say they will hide it near “Number Two, under the cross” and come find it in the future. Tom and Huck leave with their minds full of places named number two and under a cross (Twain 154). Later on, a now freed Muff Potter decides to take the children of the town to McDougal’s cave nearby. Tom sees Becky wondering off and follows her. The two children keep going deeper and deeper into the cave. After a while, Tom and Becky determine that they are lost. The cave gives in after Becky and Tom keep yelling to hear the echo. When trying to find a way out, the children run into Injun Joe, who chases them throughout the cavern. Tom finds a small crawl space that leads to a larger area. Injun Joe could not reach them there (Tom and Huck).
Tom glanced around the chamber, he noticed it was lit up and there was a cross painted on the wall. Following the light source, Tom spots a small hole leading to the outside world.
