Both showed that you need to be brave to make a difference. You need to stand up for what is right and not wait for someone else to do it. Atticus showed his quality of being brave when he tried his hardest for Tom during the jury and leading up to the jury. Atticus would sit at the jail in the pitch black to hear tom's side of the story. At one point atticus risked his life for tom, a group of white men came to the jail one night and had a plan to kill Tom. Atticus was brave and took his gun that night and waited for the men. He was not going to let anyone hurt Tom because he knew that robinson was not guilty. Atticus wanted Tom to be able to have a fair case, in front of the jury. The odds were already against Tom because he was black man and they would have taken a white person's word over his any day. Skeeter also showed great bravery when she interviewed many black women to write a book called The Help. The book consisted of many interesting stories about the black women's lives. Most of the stories were conflicts between the maid and the white woman. When she published the book she decided to keep the author anonymous, but many of the people in her home town knew it was her. We all seem to be followers instead of being our own selves. It takes people like Skeeter and atticus to make a difference. They both were brave but they also both took a sacrifice by not following what others thought about the blacks. They stepped out of the line of followers and took a stand. They wanted others to know that what they thought was wrong and that black people are the same as everyone else. Skeeter shared the many stories of black women's lives and at the end of the movie some people started to realize that what they were doing was wrong. Atticus on the other hand proved a point and showed that the law didn't care about the truth, they just saw a black man and immediately thought he was guilty. If more people would have stepped out of the line of followers with Atticus and Skeeter the end of the story might have been different. True leaders don’t create more followers. They create more
