The short stories “The Veldt” and ‘The Lottery’ have differences and similarities. One is in the future and one is in the present time. They both end in tragedy. The children in each story have part in their parent’s death.
In “The Veldt” it was in the future. George, Litia, Peter and Wendy lived in a mechanical house and it did everything for them. The children had a nursery that would create the scenery that they wanted. The parents would see the Hot African belt with lions, vultures and the smell of blood. They would hear screams. The children loved the nursery more than anything. The parents asked Peter and Wendy about the African Belt in the nursery and they lied about it. They called David the physiatrist and he said tear the room down.
