The third hurdle of causality is covariation. In my research there is not a clear proof of correlation between the two subjects. So, the third hurdle is not as easily cleared. However, this is no reason to completely throw out my hypothesis. There may have been some other variable that needs to be introduced in order to see a correlation between the two. This is where the fourth hurdle comes into play. In order to control for outside influences, I introduced two variables into my research. The first is religious self-identification, that is, how religious one would rate themselves.
